ABOUT James is one of Australia's most versatile Camera Operators!
Having grown up in and around the film industry James was always going to start working at a young age. He completed his first feature film at age 16 ("The Real Thing") and has been working consistantly ever since.
After forging a solid career in drama as a Camera Assistant (and completing work on Steven Speilberg's "The Pacific"), James “step’d up” in 2008 and began his career as a Camera Operator with a full time job as a Studio Camera Operator at Channel 9 in Sydney, where in the best part of 3 years he worked on thousands of hours of live television.
During this time, James Live TV / Event productions to his skillset while working on about 200 episodes of the Today Show as well as many episodes of Kerri-Anne, Wide World of Sports, 9 News and numerous sports OB's operating Steadicam as well!
James went freelance again at the start of 2011 and started working on Drama again (as well as broadcast television) but now as a Camera Operator. Since then has gone from strength to strenth, gaining an impressive list of credits along the way
As a Steadicam Operator James owns, operates and maintains the latest and some of the best Steadicam equipment in the world. Featuring an all HD Steadicam sled with top of the range, broadcast quality HD Wireless video systems, and equipment suitable to fly ANY camera.
2017 - James has had a huge start to the year completing photography on the feature film "The BBQ" for director Stephen Amis and DOP Dave Richardson, as well as working on "The Australian Open Tennis" for ESPN America, Concerts for Dixie Chicks, Zach Brown, James Morrison, various television commercials and in excess of 50 corporate productions / live events.
Another highlight not only for 2017 but for his whole career was that James has recently been accredited by the Society Of Camera Operators.
Judged by his piers, he is now able to use the letters SOC after his name!
Its a massive honour and puts James in a class with many of the worlds BEST and ELITE Camera Operators!
